The Internet is thin-skinned. Malicious hosts and automated systems regularly pummel it with attacks, from route hijacking to source address spoofing and more. This past November, for example, the country of Myanmar dropped off the Internet for a week due to denial-of-service attacks. more »
RoboCup Jr 2011 RoboCup Jr
This year marked the fifth consecutive year of RoboCup Junior, an annual hands-on robotics tournament for middle and high school students hosted by Duke, and the competition was fierce. Fifteen teams competed this year, including local North Carolina schools and visiting teams from other states. more »

The Department announces the appointment of Scott Schmidler as a secondary professor in Computer Science. Schmidler is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Statistical Science at Duke, where he studies stochastic models and algorithms for complex biological and physical systems. more »

We welcome Professor Jungsang Kim as a new secondary faculty member. Kim is director of the Multifunctional Integrated Systems Technology (MIST) Research Group at Duke and an associate professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. more »
