Logistics for our workshops in Summer 2017


Lodging will be provided at the newly renovated Cambria Durham Hotel.

WE WILL MAKE YOUR RESERVATION and send you your confirmation number and your roommate info if you are sharing a room. We will be sending that information out the week of June 5-9.

Here is information about the Cambria Durham Hotel.

  • Workshop rate: $99 per night plus tax (Those getting their own room will need to pay the first half nights and we will pay the second part of your stay).
  • Short walk to Duke campus. There is also a hotel shuttle that can drop you off at the workshop.
  • There is no charge to park your car at the hotel.

We are paying for your room as long as you room with another teacher. If you want your own room, you will pay the first five days and we will pay the second five days (but we will still reserve the room in your name). For the two-week June workshop rooms are reserved starting Sunday June 18 through Wednesday June 28. (unless you stated you did not want Sunday night. )

For the 2-day June Followup workshop June 20-21, rooms are reserved from Monday through Wednesday. If you are staying at our hotel, then you have to park your car at the hotel. Parking passes are only for commuters. We have to pay extra for the parking passes.

Driving, Parking and Walking Directions to Workshop

The Alice Beginner workshop will be held in the Levine Science Research Center (LSRC) Room D106 at Duke University, most days, on Monday, June 19 and on Thursday, June 22 through Wednesday, June 28. (we meet every day including on Saturday and Sunday).

On Tuesday, June 20 and Wednesday, June 21 we will be meeting in the Fitzpatrick Center, in Schiciano Rooms A and B.

The Alice Symposium and Alice 2 to Alice 3 Workshops will be meeting in the the Fitzpatrick Center, in Schiciano Rooms A and B.

Parking will be in the Circuit Lot that is on Lasalle Drive and Circuit Drive.

NOTE: Parking passes for those commuting will be handed out between 8am and 8:30am on the first day of the workshop on the corner of Lasalle Drive and Circuit Drive. You cannot enter the lot without a parking pass.

If you arrive late and there is noone outside to give you a parking pass. Then drive down Circuit to Research Drive. At the circle turn right onto Research Drive and stop on the street with your blinkers beside the LSRC building (2cd building on the right). Come in and the classroom D106 is right there, we can give you a parking pass for Circuit Lot.

Please allow at least 15 minutes to pick up your parking pass, park, and walk to the LSRC D-wing building on the first day. The parking pass is good for all ten days. If you are staying at the CAMBRiA, you should park there for free and either walk or take their shuttle.
