CS Kids 4 Fun


CS Kids 4 Fun is a new opportunity at SIGCSE 2008. We have contracted with Kiddie Corp, a professional child care provider to provide onsite childcare at the convention center during the conference. Your kids would be in a room nearby to where you are attending the conference. BUT, this is no ordinary childcare - there will be a variety of fun CS activities daily for the kids to participate in! To see what we have planned, follow this link: As an added BONUS, kids who are participating in CS Kids 4 Fun are welcome to attend the SIGCSE reception FOR FREE on Thursday evening with their parents.

The following half-day or full-day options are available (hourly care not available):

Registration is now open at You have the option to register your kids online, or to mail or fax a registration form to Kiddie Corp. You will be required to fill out a consent form, that can be downloaded from the PDF forms on the website ( They can be printed and sent in (either by fax or mail) or, families can complete the form when they check in their child(ren) on-site.

The advance registration deadline is January 10. Final registration deadline is February 7. After that date, there are no guarantees of space. If you are certain you are bringing your child(ren), don't delay - register now! Availability is limited and handled on a first-come, first-served basis. The form must be completed in its entirety and payment received before registration is confirmed. We must have at least 12 children signed up to run the program. Note Jan 10: We will definitely be running the program.

  1. How old/young can my child(ren) be to register?

    Care will be provided for children ages 6 months-12 yrs. If you have older children who want to attend, please contact us.

  2. How much does it cost?

    The cost is $6/hour for kids 3-12, and $7/hour for kids under 3. Full or half day commitments are required as specified above.

  3. What will my child(ren) be doing while I am attending the conference?
  4. Younger kids will participate in drama, play, and arts and crafts type activities. As part of the care, older kids can participate in our CS kids activities. We are investigating activities such as CS Unplugged, Scratch, Alice, etc. Student Volunteers will help with the CS activities. Visit the link: for more details.

  5. Do I need to bring anything for my child(ren)?
  6. Yes, a change of clothes is strongly recommended for all children. In addition, parents of young children will need to provide any diapers, wipes, baby food, and/or formula and bottles that are necessary.

  7. How many childcare providers will be in the room?

    Daycare provider ratios will be 1:2 for kids ages 6 months-11 months, 1:3 for kids 1 to 2 years old, and 1:5 for ages 3-12. Student volunteers for the CS activities will be additional helpers and are not included in this ratio.
